Amazon Makes Browsing Easier By Adding More Review Data to Search Results

Amazon quietly added an element to its product search result page for some users that could cut down on your shopping time.

The online retail giant began including a stat that shows the percentage of four-star or above ratings next to the overall average rating. For instance, underneath a listing for an Anker Sourcecore portable Bluetooth speaker is the standard average rating of 4.6 stars. But next to it in parenthesis is a line that reads (83% 4+ stars).

The subtle addition gives shoppers more info at a glance, meaning they don’t have to click into each product page to get the detail. This comes after the company said it would start using artificial intelligence to summarize the sometimes hundreds of reviews on any given page, all while battling fake reviews.

While Amazon offers convenience and a lot of different products to choose from, it’s become increasingly time-consuming chore to shop on the site due to the array of copycat products and the proliferation of fake reviews.

The new feature appeared on my colleague Luke Bouma’s Amazon page. It doesn’t appear on my own page, suggesting this is a limited test or potentially a phased roll out.

A spokesperson for Amazon wasn’t immediately available to comment on the change.
