Amazon Luna is going under a major reimagining with a redesigned cloud gaming experience built to bring family-friendly, living-room play to the masses. This update will lean into social party games, big-screen convenience, and a rotating library of familiar titles, and it’s coming to Prime members later this year.
Amazon is positioning the “all-new Luna” as less about hardcore solo play and more about social, accessible game nights. The relaunch centers on a new GameNight mode (party games tuned for TVs), a Prime-included rotating library of more than 50 titles, and easier device access (Fire TV, smart TVs, tablets) with no special hardware required.
GameNight: Transforming party games to a living room experience
GameNight, a curated collection of social party games designed to be played on a TV with smartphones acting as controllers, is the highlight of the redesign. By scanning a QR code, players can join instantly, making jumping into a round as simple as pointing your phone camera. Expect bite-sized games, board-game adaptations, and fast, accessible experiences meant to generate laughs and connection rather than competitive grind.
Amazon says its GameNight launch slate includes over 25 multiplayer titles developed or optimized for the mode. Game adaptations range from favorites to new and exclusive titles, including:
- Courtroom Chaos: Starring Snoop Dogg
- Angry Birds
- Draw & Guess
- Exploding Kittens
- Flappy Golf Party
- Taboo
- Ticket to Ride
- Clue
Beyond GameNight, Prime members will have access to a rotating Luna library of more than 50 popular, classic, indie and blockbuster games at no extra cost. Highlights of those offerings include Hogwarts Legacy, Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II, and TopSpin 2K25. A Luna Premium tier will be available for even more recent blockbusters.
How to Play + What You’ll Need
You won’t need a gaming PC or console; you can begin by launching Luna on an eligible device. GameNight titles work with smartphones-as-controllers (QR code joins), while the deeper single-player or controller-based games will require a Bluetooth or Luna controller for the best experience. Amazon is also offering massive savings and early Prime Big Deal Days discounts on Luna controllers and bundles:
- Luna Controller + Free 1-month of Luna+ (new subscribers) for $39.99 | Original price: $69.99 TV — 43% savings
- Fire TV Stick 4K + Luna Controller for $59.98 | Original price: $119.98 — 50% savings
- Luna Controller for $39.99 | Original price: $69.99 — 43% savings
Keep an eye out for the full roll-out later this year; Prime members should find a fresh way to game together when it lands.
