Recently Amazon started to release Amazon Fire TV branded TVs running the Fire TV OS. These cheap TVs run the Amazon Fire TV OS built into the TV. Now according to a report from AFTVnews, Amazon is likely working on a cheaper Fire TV smart TV.

Recently Amazon updated its list of supported devices for its Luna game controller. In that list, there was a new Fire TV 2-Series, a new line of Amazon-branded TVs that have not been announced as of today.

Currently, the Fire TV 4-Series is Amazon’s low-end TV brand. It is being speculated that the new 2-Series will be cheaper TVs that offer just HD pictures instead of the 4K option currently available on the 4-Series from Amazon.

Currently, the Amazon Fire TV 50″ 4-Series 4K TVs sell for $279.99 at the time of this posting. It’s possible Amazon is cleaning out stock for a new refresh of the 4-Series, as the list price is $449.99. It should be expected that the new 2-Series will be cheaper than the 4-Series.

For now, we will have to wait and see what Amazon announces, but it sure likes like a new 2-Series TV, and maybe a refresh of their other TV lines is on the way.
