Amazon has added two new products to the Kindle family – a lower priced Kindle Colorsoft and a brand new Colorsoft Kids.
The new 16 GB Kindle Colorsoft has a price tag of $249.99, $30 cheaper than the 32 GB model. The Kindle Colorsoft features a high-contrast Colorsoft display, fast page turns, an adjustable warm light, weeks of battery life, and access to the Amazon Kindle store.
Choosing the Colorsoft instead of the normal black and white Kindle screen means you’ll be able to see the covers of your Kindle library in color, read graphic novels, and use color highlights to mark and organize what you’re reading.
Amazon has also launched a Colorsoft Kids edition for $269.99, which includes a year of Amazon Kids+. A subscription gives you kid-focused content service with thousands of ad-free and age-appropriate books, games, videos, music, apps, and Alexa Skills, geared toward preschool to preteen kids.
The kids edition includes features for young readers such as Vocabulary Builder and Word Wise to learn new words, the OpenDyslexic font, and Bluetooth connectivity so they can listen to audiobooks with headphones. With the Amazon Parent Dashboard, you can manage your child’s content, review reading activity, or set a device bedtime. The Colorsoft Kids is also waterproof, so you can bring it to the pool or beach
