Amazon Discontinues Its Halo Products – Here is How to Get a Refund For Your Halo Devices

In an announcement made earlier today, Amazon disclosed it will be discontinuing all Halo products. Effective July 31st, 2023, the company will no longer be supporting its line of fitness trackers, and by August 1st all Halo devices will stop functioning. All device data will be deleted as well, so members who want to save their health information – including images – are advised to do so now on the setting page in the app.

Customers who purchased these Halo devices within the past 12 months will be issued a full refund automatically.

Amazon will no longer charge any monthly fees to members, and issue a refund for the remaining months to customers with an annual subscription renewal. Additionally, the company encourages customers to utilize the Amazon Recycling Program to dispose of their devices and will cover all associated costs.

Along with the discontinuation comes changes for staff as many employees will be laid off during the course of shutting down this division of the conglomerate company. This is yet another wave of layoffs for the company this year.

Amazon released this message to employees affected by its decision:

“We recently made the very difficult decision to stop supporting Amazon Halo effective July 31st, 2023. We are incredibly proud of the invention and hard work that went into building Halo on behalf of our customers, and our priorities are taking care of our customers and supporting our employees. We notified impacted employees in the U.S. and Canada today. In other regions, we are following local processes, which may include time for consultation with employee representative bodies and possibly result in longer timelines to communicate with impacted employees. For employees who are impacted by this decision, we are providing packages that include a separation payment, transitional health insurance benefits, and external job placement support.”
