Amazon Fire TV Adds New Text Banner Accessibility Feature

Amazon Fire TV Logo

Amazon announced a new Text Banner accessibility feature on its Fire TV interface designed to aid users with a narrow field of vision. The banner is a block of text that’s customizable and can be placed and locked on any location of your screen to help viewers read and select options on the Amazon Fire TV and Prime Video interfaces.

This screengrab is an example of what the text banner looks like. This shows the banner fixed at the bottom left of the screen with white text on blue for easy reading. Text Banner can be enabled and customized within Settings under Accessibility.

This new feature is will assist viewers with eye conditions like macular degeneration, glaucoma, and retinitis pigmentosa, making it easier for these customers to enjoy movies, videos, and more.

This new feature is Amazon’s latest addition in building an accessible interface experience, joining current features like VoiceView and Screen Magnifier.
