Amazon & Facebook Are Bidding for Premier League Streaming Rights

Fans of soccer watching matchFor months now we have been hearing reports that both Amazon and Facebook have been looking for new streaming rights. Now it looks like they are busy trying to spend money on more sports.

Amazon and Facebook are likely to bid for Premier League streaming rights, according to the Manchester United vice-chairman, Ed Woodward.

Amazon already has a deal to stream Thursday Night NFL Football games, and Facebook has recently struck several deals for college football and MLB games.

The Premier League has a growing fan base within the United States. If Facebook or Amazon could win the rights it would be a major score for both services to build a live streaming service base.

It looks like Facebook, Amazon, and even Twitter see live event streaming as a major part of their future as they continue to look for ways to diversify their services and revenue streams.

Details are still thin and the Premier League is only now starting the bidding process, so we likely won’t hear who the winner is for a few months if not sometime early next year.

This is likely just the start of what will be a bidding war between Amazon and Facebook as both have made it clear they want to build up their live TV streaming service.
