Amazon Could Be Prepping a Lower-Cost Fire TV Stick, Echo Line Updates

Fire TV Stick Lite 2

Amazon might be readying a lower-cost Fire TV Stick for launch later this year. Dave Zatz highlighted a report from German tech site WinFuture that points to a new device going by the name “Fire TV Stick Lite.” While exact tech specs and pricing details aren’t available at the moment, available images of the purported device point to a budget model to complement the existing Fire TV Stick 4K.

Perhaps the clearest evidence we’re looking at a lower-tier model comes from the remote control, which lacks the power button and volume controls of the current Fire TV Stick 4K, or the 2019, non-4K Fire TV Stick, for that matter.

Meanwhile, we got a heads-up about several device entries at the FCC. Again, details are sparse on the various hardware listings shared with us, but some of the documents appear to focus on software feature updates to existing products like the Amazon Echo, Echo Input, and more.

In any case, Amazon is expected to host its annual hardware event on Thursday, so we won’t have much longer to wait until we get a much clearer picture of the company’s plans for holiday 2020 and beyond.
