Amazon Alexa’s Interactive ‘Starfinder’ Game is Now Available to Play

Today Amazon announced the launch of its voice-enabled interactive game Starfinder on Alexa devices. The multi-part game takes users on an audio journey where you can choose the outcome of your adventure by using voice commands. Users can make decisions to advance and influence the ending of their experience.

Starfinder is a fantasy role playing tabletop game and has now been adapted for audio by the original publisher, Paizo, along with Amazon.

“The Starfinder skill for Alexa is a great example of how audio and voice-enabled experiences can create immersive and ambient entertainment,” says VP of Amazon Entertainment Devices and Services Marc Whitten, “We are thrilled with how incredible sci-fi storytellers and amazing voice talent bring this interactive adventure to life.”

The cast consists of 13 voice actors who spent a combined 125 hours in the studio to record all of the possible twists and turns the game could take with a script of more than 745 pages. The end result: 13 hours of playtime exploring the weird and magical universe through the decisions you choose for your character to make.

The first three episodes of the game are available as of today, with episodes 4-6 coming in October. You can access them simply by saying “Alexa, play the Starfinder game.” The pilot episode – which launched to great user response in December 2019 – is available to play for free on your Alexa enabled device. You can purchase additional episodes for $1.99 each, or $9.99 for the whole series.
