Amazon Adds Whole Home Streaming to Alexa Devices

Since Amazon’s Echo powered by Alex launched people have been dreaming about the ability to stream their audio to multiple devices at once. Now Amazon has made that a reality with their Multi-Room Music feature for Amazon Alexa.

Here is how Amazon describes Multi-Room Music for Alexa:

Multi-Room Music SDK

For those device makers without their own multi-room music solutions, the AVS Multi-Room Music SDK extends the new synchronized music capability from today’s Echo Family of Devices announcement to third-party device makers, enabling customers to group multiple Amazon Echo and other third-party Alexa-enabled products together for “whole home” music experiences. The SDK is available to device makers building Alexa-enabled products early next year.

Now as you walk from room to room you will be able to hear your music through out your house. Currently, only Amazon services are supported but expect others like Pandora, SiriusXM and more to be added soon.

Amazon is reported to be about to roll out a new Amazon Echo devices as they recently cleared out their stock of older models with a flash sale over the past week. Details are still thin but reports are a device with better speakers is coming soon.

Amazon currently has the Echo Dot on sale for $44.99 if you would like to pick up a new Amazon Alexa device.
