Altitude Sports is “Exploring” a Partnership With Amazon After Comcast, DIRECTV, & Dish Dropped The Channel

amazon buildingRecently Comcast, DIRECTV, and Dish all dropped the regional sports network Altitude Sports from their lineup after talks broke down. This means fans of sports in Denver are struggling to find ways to watch their regional sports network coverage of the Nuggets and Avalanche after it decided not to support cord cutting options like PlayStation Vue and Hulu.

Now in an interview with the Denver Post, Altitude Sports CEO Jim Martin says they are exploring a partnership with Amazon. “We are exploring it,” said Mr. Martin. “How viable it is and what their level of interest is, we don’t know at this point, but we are interested in looking into that. We’ve had no direct conversations with them, but we have been looking internally about what the opportunity would be and we do intend to reach out to them.”

Now we still don’t know exactly what this means as Altitude Sports was clear that they don’t see a direct-to-consumer option as a real possibility. “Today a model does not exist that can support a streaming/direct to consumer option.” Altitude Sports said in a statement this week.

For now, we will have to see what Altitude Sports’ next move is, but as fall sports gets underway many sports fans in Denver are hoping they strike a new deal soon or offer other ways to watch their favorite teams.
