Altice Lost 35,000 Video Subscribers in Q2 2020

Altice lost 35,000 pay TV subscribers in quarter 2 of 2020, the company reported today. Like other cable providers, Altice pointed to coronavirus as the main driver of subscriber losses.

Dexter Goei, Altice USA Chief Executive Officer, said: “I am very proud of the Altice USA team for delivering such an exceptional quarter while navigating the challenges presented by the pandemic. Our core cable business performed extremely well, and we remain committed to serving our broader community with the connectivity and news they need during this unprecedented time.”

While pay TV numbers are down, Altice continues to expand its broadband offerings, gaining 70,000 broadband customers, its best-ever quarterly net additions . Recently, Altice acquired Service Electric Cable of New Jersey to grow its footprint in the broadband industry by bringing Optimum internet service to Service Electric Cable customers. The company shared today that the acquisition added approximately 30k unique customer relationships to its subscriber base.
