Alexa & Google Assistant Are Reportedly Coming to the Xbox One

This week Windows Central was sent some screenshots of a new Xbox One software update from a reliable source. These screenshots show a new settings menu with the ability to enable a digital assistant.

On of the screenshots clearly lists the options of Cortana, Alexa, or Google Assistant, which points to Microsoft once again making a major push to bring voice controls to the Xbox. Ever since Xbox abandoned Kinnect, Microsoft has lacked something to replace its voice controls. Now it looks like they have found a solution.

Now it looks like you will soon be able to use your Google Home, Echo Device, or Windows device to control your Xbox One. This is similar to how Roku and the Amazon Fire TV are launching integration with third-party devices to control streaming.

For som,e this may seem silly, but for other,s this will open up the Xbox in ways they couldn’t before. Users with physical or mental disabilities will have the ability to use a voice system, which will open up a new world of entertainment options to them.

No dates have been announced for when this will happen, and right now it looks like it is in early beta testing.
