A+E Networks Brings Free Channels to Rakuten TV

A+E Networks EMEA is launching three free ad-supported channels on Rakuten TV, a Japanese-based video-on-demand streaming service. The channels include Inside Crime, Mystery TV, and World War TV.

This move is part of A+E Networks’ plan to share its content on new platforms and extend the reach of its free channels. Rakuten TV is available in Spain, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Finland, Austria, Ireland, Belgium, Croatia, Netherlands, Luxembourg, Poland, Portugal, Ukraine, and Switzerland and offers an average of 100 channels for each country.

“This launch reinforces A+E Networks EMEA’s strategy to distribute our content onto new platforms following the successful launches on Pluto, Amazon Freevee, Samsung TV, and Virgin Media 02,” said Julie Mitchelmore, vice president at A+E Networks EMEA.

The Inside Crime channel gives audiences a behind-the-scenes look at some of the world’s most infamous and horrifying crimes. This channel has something for every true crime fan, granting a detailed view of real-life crime scenes, police archives, and courtroom proceedings. Viewers can investigate along with series such as Nightmare in Suburbia, Robbie Coltrane’s Critical Evidence, and Britain’s Darkest Taboos.

Mystery TV takes a deep dive into the supernatural realms. The channel features programs covering aliens and UFOs while showing audiences a peek behind the veil of government conspiracies, secrets, and cover-ups. Catch series such as Weird or What hosted by William Shatner, Top Secret UFO Projects Declassified, and Legends of the Deep.

World War TV delves into conflicts that “brought us to the brink of disaster and the superpower stand-offs that imperil our world today.” It offers programs such as WW2 Treasure Hunters featuring WWII relic hunters Stephen Taylor and Suggs, Hitler’s Gold, and The Plane That Led D-Day.

Rakuten TV offers free live channels in addition to films and series to rent or buy. There are no membership fees to create an account.
