A24 Films Like ‘Dream Scenario’ Are Heading to Max, HBO and Cinemax in Exclusive Deal

A24, the independent film studio that’s become a critical darling thanks to hits like Everything Everywhere All At Once, Midsommar, and Uncut Gems, inked a multiyear deal with Warner Bros. Discovery to bring its old and new movies to Max, HBO and Cinemax.

The agreement is structured as a so-called pay-1 deal, which means that A24 films will arrive exclusively on one of the Warner Bros. Discovery services after ending their theatrical run.

The deal bolsters the already-growing lineup of content found on the Max streaming service, as well as for premium cable networks HBO and Cinemax, with the former already associated with critical darlings. New movies that are part of this deal include Dicks: The Musical, Priscilla, Dream Scenario (starring Nicholas Cage), and The Zone of Interest, with more than a hundred titles in total. It also represents an extension of an existing relationship with older films already available on Max and HBO.

“Continuing our relationship with A24 to bring award-winning movies alongside recent fan-favorites to subscribers adds incredible value to the HBO and Max value proposition,” said Royce Battleman, executive vice president of content acquisitions for Warner Bros. Discovery. “The diverse range of stories that come from the A24 pipeline make this partnership so impactful for our audience.”

The deal allows Max and HBO to bolster their lineup without producing the films themselves, which is just getting back underway with the two Hollywood strikes now finally resolved.
