Scissors cutting a computer wire on gray background (wireless or blackout concept)Earlier this year reports came out saying cord cutting was likely to slow down in 2019. We got early numbers showing that AT&T, Comcast, and Verizon lost over 900,000 subscribers in just the first three months of the year.

A new report from the Convergence Research Group even says cord cutting will speed up in 2019. They expect cord cutting to grow by 4.56 million U.S. households this year.

According to the report, by the end of 2019, 34% of Americans will no longer pay for a traditional pay-TV service like cable or satellite TV. This would mean that by the end of 2019 there will be more Americans will be paying for a streaming service than Americans that are paying for a traditional pay-TV service.

Exactly how big cord cutting will be by the end of 2019 is anyone’s guess. What we do know is all early signs point to cord cutting becoming more popular and growing faster than ever.
