A New Nvidia Shield Just Cleared The FCC Running Android TV

For months we have heard rumors of a new Nvidia Shield running Android TV. Bback in June, we learned that Nvidia was working on a new Nvidia Shield code-named “mdarcy”. Today it was confirmed that the rumored “mdarcy” new Nvidia Shield is real as it cleared the FCC today. This comes with the FCC filing name of “NVIDIA Corporation SHIELD Android TV Game Console P3430.”

This was first spotted by Dave Zatz from ZatzNotFunny.com.

From what we know very little is changing with this Nvidia Shield. All the specs found online are the same as the current Nvidia Shield except for an upgraded Tegra X1 processor that is listed as a Tegra X1 “T210 B01″ instead of the Tegra X1 “A2″ that is currently used.

From the documents we have, it looks like this is a minor update of the Nvidia Shield. With that said this could all be place holder data that will be updated at a later date. Nvidia and other companies have a history of listing incorrect information about a new device until they are ready to release it.

It is also not unusual for a company with a long-running device like the Nvidia Shield to upgrade a processor without making a big announcement about the change.
