A New Net Neutrality Bill Was Just Passed By The US House of Representatives

Today the US House of Representatives passed a new bill to restore Net Neutrality rules and force the FCC to not overturn them in the past. The bill still needs to pass the Senate before being sent to the President but this is an important first step.

“Our bill protects consumers and small businesses from abusive and discriminatory practices by internet service providers and protects free speech and innovation,” Chairman Frank Pallone (D-NJ) said in a statement. “Our bill protects consumers and small businesses from abusive and discriminatory practices by internet service providers and protects free speech and innovation. This bill would force the FCC to regulate the internet in the same way it regulates TV for example.

The old Net Neutrality rules were first introduced in 2015 and in 2018 the current FCC voted to switch internet services back from an FCC regulated utility to an FTC regulated utility.
