A Look at Apple TV+’s Global Performance Compared to Competitors

After this week’s Apple Event, it’s only fitting to check in on Apple TV+ to see how the service is performing amid the ongoing streaming wars. Compared to other new services that launched around the same time, Apple TV+ is holding its own pretty well.

In terms of global market share, Apple TV+ falls somewhere in the middle. Date from JustWatch shows Disney+ is the clear leader with 17.6% share and slow and steady growth over the past year. HBO Max has seen the biggest growth with its expansion into Europe, rising from below 5% to 7% as of February 2022.

Apple TV+ has stayed pretty consistent since January 2021, with a slight dip in share after it ended its free trial last summer. But the streamer is bouncing back and has risen to 5.6%, while both Peacock’s free and premium tiers have failed to resonate globally.

Apple TV+ has plans continue releasing a slow and steady stream of quality new Originals, specials and streaming partnerships. During Tuesdays’s Apple Event, the company announced that Apple TV+ will launch Friday Night Baseball – a weekly doubleheader with live pre- and postgame shows when the MLB season begins.
