On Sunday, DIRECTV announced a rebrand in hopes of streamlining its products and making it easier for users to compare packages and find what they’re looking for. While streamlining and consolidating the services makes sense, it can also be confusing for customers. Below, we’re outlining the changes and the current streaming packages offered by DIRECTV.

All Products Under One Name

With the update, all DIRECTV services are now under the same umbrella. Instead of going to a different website for satellite versus streaming, everything now lives on directv.com and in the DIRECTV app.

Now, both of DIRECTV’s streaming products, DIRECTV STREAM and DIRECTV via Internet are under the name DIRECTV Streaming. All of the streaming packages are month to month, so you won’t get locked into an annual contract. And, while pricing used to be different depending on whether you chose DIRECTV STREAM or DIRECTV via Internet, there is now one singular pricing structure.

Subscribers can watch with the DIRECTV app on smart TVs, with streaming devices, and on phones and tablets, or can use the Gemini device which needs to be leased. (Yes, you can still stream with your Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, etc. with the DIRECTV app.)

There are a few DIRECTV Streaming products to choose from: MyFree DIRECTV, Signature Packages, and Genre Packs.

MyFree DIRECTV

This is DIRECTV’s free streaming service. The service brings viewers free live channels and on demand content that can be streamed on the DIRECTV app. Sign up with just an email address, no credit card required.

To watch, head to the MyFree DIRECTV registration page and enter your email. Download the DIRECTV App on your smart TV, phone, laptop, or tablet. If you subscribe for a Signature Package, you’ll also get access to these free channels.

DIRECTV Signature Packages

These are the packages that used to be available under both DIRECTV STREAM and DIRECTV via Internet. The plans look the same but now have one pricing structure. You’ll still get unlimited DVR and can stream on unlimited simultaneous streams on your home network.

Here’s what each package offers:

  • Entertainment: $84.99 per month
90+ channels including locals, CNN, Fox News, ESPN, Food Network, and more in news, sports, and entertainment.
  • Choice: $89.99 per month
125+ channels including everything from the Entertainment package, plus specialty sports including ACC Network, Big Ten Network, MLB Network, NBA TV, SEC Network, and your local Regional Sports Networks.
  • Ultimate: $119.99 per month
160+ channels including everything from the Choice package, plus more sports & movies including CBS Sports Network, Discovery Family, FX Movie Channel, NHL Network, STARZ Encore & more.
  • Premier: $164.99 per month
185+ channels including everything from the ultimate package, plus the top-rated premium networks including: Max, Paramount+ with SHOWTIME, STARZ, and Cinemax.

Note that if you subscribe to the Choice package or higher, you’ll also pay a Regional Sports Fee if you have RSNs available in your area.

If you choose to lease the Gemini device to stream with, you’ll pay an extra $10 per month.

DIRECTV Genre Packs
