We finally have an idea what 5G will cost. Last weekend C Spire launched their first 5G home internet service. The good news is the price is far lower than many expected it to be. C Spire is offering 120 Mbps down with no data cap for $50 a month.
Now for some that may not seem like a great deal. Yet for many, that price point with no data cap is a steal. As always remember internet pricing varies wildly depending on where you live. Many factors go into the price.
The good news here is it comes data cap free and will push DSL and cable providers to drop their data caps as well. The $50 price point will also force many internet providers to look closely at the pricing they have on their internet service. 120 Mbps down is more than enough to stream content online. And this price will force some DSL and cable providers to drop their prices or face the fact that 5G will be less expensive in their areas.
AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile all plan to launch 5G networks this year. Google, Dish, Charter, and others all plan to have 5G networks launching in 2019 and 2020. This is likely just the start of what may become a true price war as T-Mobile has announced plans to bundle home and wireless internet into one cheap low wireless plan.
