5 Reasons Why the Apple TV Could Dominate 2016

AppleTVNewThis is part 3 of a 4-part look at who will win 2016.

Apple has long been a leader of personal electronics, but for years they let their Apple TV sit there with no updates and rarely even talked about it. Now that has all changed at the end of 2015 with the release of a new Apple TV.

The new Apple TV brings one main improvement: an app store that for the first time allows anyone to make an app for the Apple TV similar to how the Fire TV and Roku have had app stores. This app store now makes the Apple TV, for the first time, a real option for cord cutters.

So in 2016 could Apple TV be the most sold set-top streaming box? We are going to take a look at 5 reasons why the Apple TV could dominate 2016.

1st: A Huge Fan Base

Apple has a huge following of very loyal fans that buy almost anything Apple. While this fan base had started to jump ship in recent years, the new Apple TV may just bring them back.

So, just by looking at the number of Apple fans the Apple TV could see a huge amount of sales in 2016.

2nd: The Remote

The new remote for the Apple TV offers several new features. It replaced the traditional d-pad with a touch screen. Apple also added the ability to turn on your TV and manage the volume of your TV from the remote.

So if you want a remote that can turn on and off your TV the new Apple TV is what you want.

3rd: Well that’s it really…

So, yeah, the Apple fan base and the remote is really the only reasons the Apple TV will be popular in 2016.

It has been confirmed that the new Apple TV streaming service was canceled, and it is unlikely to come out in 2016. We have talked to several developers who have said moving apps from IOS to Apple TV is not as easy as Apple said it would be.

The Apple TV does not have 4K, and it does not have any content as of today that the other devices do not have. While Apple does have a large fan following, so do Roku, Google, and Amazon.

Yes, Apple has a lot of fans, but once the fans buy the Apple TV it will be hard to attract new buyers to a device that is considerably more expensive and offers fewer services and features and less content.

I know I will hear a lot of people say that the Apple TV has promise and could be a great device; however, as of today it is all promise and no follow-through. We have to look at what is here now, not what could be when looking at who will win 2016 because Roku, Fire TV, and Chromecast all have app stores that all show the same promise.
