Godzilla: King of Monsters (Action)

The second installment in the modern adaptation of the Godzilla franchise sees the massive creature as he faces off against a new horde of monsters. The movie begins with a massive betrayal from one of the main human characters that mobilizes all of Godzilla’s foes and throws the world into chaos. Filled with themes of deceit, perseverance, and heroism, you’ll be wondering who the real monsters are by the end of this movie.

Why should I watch?

Because it builds off the mythology established in the first movie. Trailers promised high stakes action and next level graphics, and the movie itself delivers. It’s an action packed flick that never lets up.

Crazy Rich Asians (Comedy)

When Rachel Chu joins her boyfriend Nick on a trip to Singapore for a friend’s wedding, she discovers that Nick’s family is among the country’s elite. Private estates, fancy clothes, and servants await Rachel in Singapore along with a series of hilarious events that befall her during her stay. The movie forces her to confront her past and present in order to make sense of her future with Nick.

Why should I watch?

Because it has a stellar cast of actors who keep the jokes coming. It’s one of the few Asian love stories out there today and breaks the mold for comedies and Asian specific storytelling.

Loving (Drama)

The true story of Richard and Mildred Loving, an interracial couple, who led the charge for striking down anti-miscegenation laws in the Supreme Court in the 1950s.The movie features some big names with Star Wars alum Joel Edgerton and Nick Krull taking up two main roles, and delivering fantastic performances as Richard and Bernie respectively. Heartfelt and devastating, this film paints a portrait of the America we often turn away from. 

Why should I watch?

Because it will help you see the world in a different light. The actors put their all into their performances and at times you will find it hard to watch, but harder to turn away.

Storks (Family)

Long ago, the legend was that babies were delivered by storks. Today, storks are responsible for a different kind of package. Storks takes place in a world dominated by an internet retail corporation that actual storks deliver packages for. The main stork is a top performer for the company, but when he accidentally creates a human baby in the Baby Factory his reputation and job are on the line. The movie’s got a little something for everyone in the family and adds an interesting twist to the storks legend. 

Why should I watch?

Because it’s slapstick comedy and more mature undertones will resonate with both kids and adults. It’s a cute movie that will teach you something new about life and keep you laughing the whole time.

Us (Horror)

Fans of classic body snatcher horror flicks will love Jordan Peele’s sophomore hit. It follows an African American family on vacation who discover that they are being haunted by their own doppelgangers. A horrific night ensues, and the family finds themselves fighting for their lives at every turn. The movie begs the question of: what if our worst enemy was ourselves?

Why should I watch?

Because it’s got a twist ending that you won’t see coming. It’s a movie that will keep you on edge.
