3 Tips to Make Cord Cutting Easy

Cutting the cable connection to coax connector illustrating retired people cancelling cable TV serviceCord cutting can be complicated if you don’t prepare—from finding streaming devices to the right streaming services and antenna. Do not worry, we are here to help make cord cutting as easy as possible.

So here are three tips to help make cord cutting easy.

#1 Don’t Rush Into It

The number one mistake people make when they cut the cord is rushing into it. Taking a bit of time before you cancel your pay-TV subscription can help you avoid overpaying. Make sure to set up everything first—from your antenna to streaming players. Test out different streaming services before canceling pay-TV.

This way when you cancel your pay-TV provider you are not rushing out to buy any antenna you can find in hopes of watching your favorite show tonight. A little preparation will ensure that when you cancel cable TV you are set for your life as a cord cutter.

#2 Don’t Focus on the Number of Channels

Often cord cutters can get sucked back into the idea that more channels is better. What you need to focus on are the shows you want. We suggest making a list of shows you must have and then looking for streaming services with these shows.

It’s easy to get tricked into spending a little more just so you have more channels only to find out you do not watch anything on these channels.

#3 Only Subscribe When You Need That Service

Unlike cable TV there are no year-long contracts. You can add or drop subscriptions whenever you want. If you only want a live TV service for sports only pay for it when your sport is on. Only want HBO for “Game of Thrones?” Only pay for HBO Now when “Game of Thrones” is on.

By only subscribing to services when you use them you can easily save $100s every year.
