3 Reasons Roku’s New Lineup of Players Will Dominate The Market

roku-express-1Roku has long been a leader in set-top streaming players. Now with their refreshed lineup of streaming players it looks like they will continue to dominate well into 2017.

The following are reasons why Roku will dominate the streaming set-top player market this Christmas and into 2017.

Price

Roku did not just come out with a new line of players, they came out with a line of less expensive players. No matter what market you look at Roku has a player that is at or close to the least expensive on the market.

The Roku Express at just $29.99 offers a full 1080p player that can stand up nicely to any HD streaming player on the market. Compare it to the Amazon Stick that costs $39.99 after a recent price drop.

Want 4K? The Roku Premiere is just $79.99 and stacks up nicely against the Amazon Fire TV 2. After the Roku Premiere came out Amazon dropped the price of the Fire TV 2 to $89.99; however, the Premiere is still less expensive.

Want a HDR 4K player? The Roku Ultra will give you the same great picture quality as the Nvidia Shield but at just $129.99 compared to the Shield’s $199.99 price tag. Although the Roku Ultra costs less it supports more services.

Content

Roku is once again leading the field in content but others are catching up; however, it seems they are hoping that they can build the largest library of 4K and HDR content of any streaming player. That may not matter for some who are happy with 1080p, but for others that will be a huge selling point.

New Roku OS

One of the biggest complaints people have of the Roku is its dated user interface. Many said it was ugly and others said it limited apps. Roku has a brand-new Roku OS that is currently out to developers. Word is this update will allow more powerful apps and will bring a new refreshed user interface.

Put It All Together

The new Roku players are less expensive, have more content, and will have a brand-new Roku OS later this year. Put it all together and the new Roku players stand up against anything on the market today.
