23% of Disney+ Subscribers Are Likely to Cancel in Next 6 Months, Survey Shows

Lady and the Tramp

A survey by ExpressVPN asked 1500 Disney+ subscribers about their viewing habits and opinions on the streaming service. According to the survey, subscribers are most excited about classic Disney content (48.2%) with original content like The Mandalorian coming in second place (20%) followed by Marvel movies (11.87%), Pixar content (11.6%), the Star Wars franchise (5.8%) and National Geographic content (2.53%).

81.07% said that nostalgia was one reason they chose to subscribe to Disney+. Disney took to social media in the days leading up to the launch, letting fans know that content from the Disney Vault would be available to stream, then listing individual titles from Fantasia to Lizzie McGuire in a series of tweets.

While Disney+ subscribers have had positive feedback about the streaming service, not everyone is planning to keep their subscription long term. ExpressVPN asked how likely subscribers are to cancel Disney+ in the next 6 months.

As subscriber numbers grow, with numbers now reaching over 15 million, we’ll now be watching to see whether nostalgia and an investment in original content is enough to keep subscribers interested over time.
