The Walmart-owned streaming service Vudu starting today now supports downloading of rentals and purchases. With a recent upgraded of its apps for iOS and Android devices, Vudu added the ability for users to download movies and show they own and have rented for offline viewing.
The update also finally allows iOS users to watch content in HDX, Vudu’s 1080p resolution format, bringing the iOS version up with what’s already been available to Android device owners. The iOS update also adds AirPlay support, allowing Apple device owners to cast their content to a second screen.
Sadly, the new offline viewing option will not work with their new free with ads streaming option made popular by services such as Crackle and Tubi TV. So you sadly wont be watching movies like offer movies such as Mad Max, True Grit, Abduction, School of Rock, Hoosiers, The Phantom of the Opera (2004), Young Adult, Margin Call, A Walk to Remember and The Magnificent Seven (1960) for free offline.
Lastly, the app update offers exclusive bonus clips, filming locations, behind-the-scenes featurettes and other extras with purchased or rented content.
