Yesterday at E3, Sony announced their Playstation TV service called Vue TV is expanding to San Francisco and Los Angeles. More importantly, Sony announced that they will be offering a la carte TV service in select cities.

There is currently no release date or further details, but you will need to be in one of a limited number of cities to subscribe to the service. Also at this time we have no details on the price of the a la carte services. With that said, it is not expected to be cheap as currently the cheapest plan for the Sony Vue service is about $50/month.

Clearly this is a move to respond to Sling TV and the growing number of standalone services like HBO Now. Hopefully this is just the first of many a la carte services to come.
