DNSHBO Now’s recent move to block subscribers of Smart DNS from outside the country, raises the question of how you can use the services you legally pay for back at home during travel. Many cord cutters use Smart DNS and VPNs to be able to watch their content back at home as they travel. While they both will allow you to watch content back at home, they work very differently and it is important to know how they work when you are considering Smart DNS vs VPN.

I was shocked at how even news services did not understand that Smart DNS is not a VPN. Just because something will give you the same result as a VPN does not make it a VPN.

Check out our short video to explain how they work and why it is important to know how they work depending on how you want to use them.

A example of a VPN service is IP-Vanish. https://www.ipvanish.com/

A example of a Smart DNS service is Unblock-US. https://www.unblock-us.com/
