Sling TV Just Released A Major Update to Their Fire TV App & Extended Their Free Trial

Fire TV 36Yesterday Sling TV updated their Sling TV app for the Fire TV with a new UI and is now offering a extended 14-day FREE trail.

New UI

sling-tv-fire-tvSling TV’s new UI makes the Sling TV experience more personalized and adds great new ways to find content. At the center of the new update is the “My TV,” a new home screen. From there, you can add your favorite networks to “My Channels” for one-click access to the networks you watch the most. And, pick up where you left off in the “Continue Watching” ribbon.

They also added a “On Now” screen for quick access to everything currently airing. It’s even organized by genres, including “Sports,” “Kids,” News,” and more, so you can find what you’re looking for.

Since this fall, Sling TV added NHL Network and NBA TV, plus ESPN3 and Pac-12 Network, expanding upon the incredible breadth of sports content we already offered our customers with channels like NFL Network, SEC Network, ESPN, and so much more. To get a quick view of all the sports shows and games in your service, visit the “Sports” screen. Looking for a specific sport? This screen is also organized by sport, so finding the big game is easier than ever.

Extended 14-day Free Trial

Finally, for a limited-time, Sling TV is offering a 14-day free trial to new customers who sign up on an Amazon device. That’s twice the typical 7 day free trail to check out Sling TV for FREE.

While I think that the new UI is an improvement, I still wish that they would add a grid-style guide like PS Vue and DTV Now have.

the grid guide of directv now is just one of the reason why i cancelled sling and went with directv now’s 3 month prepay for the GOT TO HAVE IT 100 channels promo @ 35.00/mo…the other reason for dropping sling is that they dont have discovery’s many channels (destination america, science, discovery, etc…)…ive waited two years for these channels to come, but nadda…if sling had those discovery channel pack, i wouldve kept sling, oh well.

Agreed. It still crashes on me from time to time.

it crashes on all streaming devices…but glitches are expected with these new OTT services…happened with sling and vue…even to this day, there is still some issues with sling (about two yrs online now) and vue (about a year online now)…these services will never be 100% perfect, so choose one that you can live with LOL

I have had almost no issues with Sling on FireTV in the last several months. The same goes for Android, iOS, and xBox One.

I have frequent crashes on Windows 7 and 10. I have tried it on several different Windows computers and have had the same problem with all of them, so there’s definitely an issue with the Windows version. I have contacted their tech support department about it and they claim that they’re working on it.
