Are you a 4K TV owner and have a Nvidia Shield? Soon you will have one more option with the addition of Google Play 4K on the Nvidia Shield.

Google Play Movies and TV—with an update today—joins Netflix, Amazon Video, and many other apps in supporting 4K content on all SHIELD TVs, extending the already impressive lineup when it comes to 4K entertainment.

SHIELD also now supports cast in 4K so 4K apps and content can now be cast from your mobile devices directly to SHIELD.

Google Play joins a growing list of 4K apps on the Nvidia Shield including YouTube, Netflix, Amazon Video, Google Photos, Vudu, Plex, Kodi, and VIMEO.

As 4K continues to come standard on more and more devices the battle for 4K support is heating up. The good news for cord cutters is the fact that 4K streaming is more widely available than 4K on traditional pay-TV services.

You shouldn’t have to do anything to get this update because the Google Play app on your Nvidia Shield should just auto update. If not, go into the Google Play Store and see if you have any updates waiting.
