Family Watching Television Together Arguing Over RemoteThe live TV streaming service is getting very crowded. Not that long ago you only had one option for live TV streaming to cord cutters with Sling TV. Now you have a growing list of live TV services including DIRECTV NOW, PlayStation Vue, Hulu, and more.

One of the newest live TV services is coming from Comcast and is expected to be called Xfinity Instant TV. The service will include local broadcast channels, an unnamed premium channel, and DVR capabilities for $15 per month for customers of Comcast’s home Internet service, Matt Strauss, the head of Comcast’s cable service, said in an interview with the Chicago Tribune. The service will also allow subscribers to buy add-on packages of cable TV channels for an additional charge, he said.

“If you want to add on top of that, skinny packages like a sports and news pack or kids and family pack or a TV and entertainment pack, you’ll have the ability to do that,” Strauss explained to the newspaper.

Now this will not be available outside of Comcast current markets. It seems Comcast is using their current deals that limit their market to launch the service. “We are not focused on delivering a national over-the-top service,” Strauss said. “We’re very focused on delivering products and services within the markets that we serve today, like Chicago.”

For now no channel lineup or launch date have been announced but the service is expected to be released in 2017. Device support is unknown but Comcast already has apps for several streaming players including a recently released Roku Channel.
