Ever wish you had more time in your life? How about saving over 160 hours in 2017? You can do that by ditching cable TV and streaming your shows online.

The average American watches about 160 hours of commercials every year, which works out to be about 6 days’ worth of ads.

Increasingly shows are cramming more ads into them. “NCIS” in 2016 now has about 18 minutes of ads for every 1 hour episode. In 2003 “NCIS” only had about 16 minutes of ads per episode. That may not seem like much but these extra few minutes over a 23-episode season that can add up to an additional 46 minutes of ads.

If you watched a typical 23-episode season of “NCIS” today you would watch about 414 minutes worth of ads or almost 7 hours. If you watched that same season on Amazon Video you would already be seven episodes into a different season.

So if you are looking to save time and money cord cutting is the way to go.
