Hulu just released a new universal app for Windows 10 users. Now both desktop and tablet Windows users will have access to the same interface.
So what does this mean for you?
1st Hold My Place
Hulu will now remember where you left off between all your devices. Start a show on your tablet and switch to your PC? Hulu will remember your location and jump you there.
2nd Voice
Cortana, the Windows personal assistant similar to Google Now and Siri, will allow you to start a show just by saying “Hulu watch Simpsons.” No longer will you even have to have the app open to start playing your favorite show.
3rd New Looks
The new Hulu app has a slick high resolution look that should be a much more pleasing interface for users with high-DPI displays.
4th Live Tiles
Hulu now has even stronger support for Live tiles on Windows providing updates about new shows and movies you may be interested in.
So why use the Hulu app over Hulu in a browser?
In short you do not need the Hulu app to stream Hulu on your desktop, but the experience is smoother with the app. There are fewer hiccups, and content loads more quickly especially when you are searching for something to watch through different menus.
So, no, you do not need the Windows app if you are on a laptop or desktop, but you may be surprised to find out that the app gives you a better experience.
