Family Watching TV At Night Sitting On Sofa Together

For years HBO was known as the channel with the best TV on TV. Now it is facing tough competition from services such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime Video.

It seems that HBO is going to experiment with binge watching in an effort to take on Netflix at its own game. In July HBO is running a miniseries called “The Defiant Ones” over four nights, but you will be able to watch all of the segments at once on HBO GO and HBO NOW.

“The Defiant Ones” tells the stories of Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine, their improbable partnership, and their leading roles in a series of transformative events in contemporary culture. Directed by Allen Hughes, who conducted extensive interviews with both men, it also includes interviews with such music icons as Bono, David Geffen, Eminem, Nas, Stevie Nicks, Kendrick Lamar, Ice Cube, Gwen Stefani, Jon Landau, Tom Petty, Trent Reznor, Snoop Dogg, Bruce Springsteen, Diddy, and will.i.am. In addition, “The Defiant Ones” features never-before-seen footage from a multitude of recording and writing sessions with Eazy-E, JJ Fad, Stevie Nicks, N.W.A., Tom Petty, Bruce Springsteen, and U2, among others.

For now it seems that HBO is just testing the waters with this new model. If it is successful you may see more shows became available before they air on TV.
