    good luck

  • I’ve been a cord-cutter since I started college 3 years ago. I didn’t sign up for the cable through my dorms, and only use Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime, and HBO to watch my shows, along with an antenna for the occasional Colbert. Ive been also nagging all my friends and family to join me.

    • That sounds like you’re a cord-never, never paying for it yourself, just using your parent’s cable before moving out.

  • Wayne Perry

I have been a cord cutter for 1 year and we now have DirecTV Now, Netflix, and Amazon Prime. We love it!

  • Home Run Phil

I’ve been transitioning to being a cord cutter for about a year. If others in the house would be less dependent on cable, and I had an antenna that picked up all of my locals, I’d be cord free. Hope to be by the end of the year.

  • Cooper McChester

I have not won this yet?? Fake news! lol

  • Apocalypso

I became a cord cutter in 2013 after finally becoming tired of shelling out money for expensive cable bills which offered so little in terms of customizable packages that suited my viewing preferences. That same year was when I bought a Chromecast which, paired with several *cough* “Google-able” streaming apps, opened up a world of cord cutting formerly unknown to me. From there, I graduated to an Android box (a Minix) and discovered the world of Kodi which opened up my streaming options even more. Since then, I’ve said farewell to cable and haven’t looked back.

Decided to dive into the world of cord cutting recently and discovering it’s harder than it seems. Living in a rural area means I have difficulty getting all of the big networks. (closest towers are ~25 miles away) I will figure it out though. 🙂

    3 Years cordcutting..Don’t like ads…

  • gorgo2005

Been cord cutting for going on two years. Using local TV channels via antenna, using Roku channels for everything else – Sling TV, Netflix, Amazon Prime, Pluto TV, and a plethora of other channels. Helped to turn a $191 monthly cable bill into a $65 deal. Using an Ooma box for my landline. Only thing I kept was the internet service.

  • Sherry Craig

I want to cut the cord. We are currently paying $260 for TV and internet. We do use Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon Prime getting ready to make the switch.

  • Thile

Been a cord-cutter for six months now. This site and others were a huge help in making my decision. I currently subscribe to Sling and Netflix, and have a great outdoor antenna. Also, dropping DirecTV has saved me about $65/month.

I’ve been expensive cable free for at least 10 years, but do have basic cable and HBO as it’s cheaper than paying for internet alone.

  • nimbyyg

Two-plus years ago, I was tired of paying for cable to be entertained by a brain-draining electronic gadget. What a surprise, that I’m as easily entertained for less than $20/month, as I was for $100 more than that. So it isn’t about my brain cells, it’s about my money.

  • Ryan D

    Here goes another try!

Cord cutting has been great… going to have to find a new streaming service in 3 months when I drop Vue, but hey, plenty of options!

  • Joseph Weigel

I have been cord cutting for years now. I did go back to Charter for a bit to see how things had changed and of course they hadn’t. So many issues with the service and way over priced. I’m currently trying out Directv Now at 35.00 a month well because they had the fire stick offer so that paid for the service in itself. I had issues with directv now and I let them know and so got another month free. I have an antenna hooked up which gets around 34 channels in my area. It’s only an indoor antenna from walmart. TheMediasonic Homeworx. I subscribe to Hulu and netflix on top of that. so that’s about 20.00 a month for Netflix and Hulu so if I miss my shows on live tv I have the back up on Hulu to catch up. The only thing I like about Directv Now so far is that you can link up with the respective apps on most channels. I watch Doctor Who on BBC and so I can watch that anytime on the website. Also for now Directv Now has the add on of HBO for only 5 dollars so you can watch Game of Thrones. 🙂

  • Love the content you provide here on the site and on YouTube.

  • William Wallace

Cut the cord when Vue came out. Ended up saving close to $90 a month. Now that they are hiking the price up and slowly cutting channels (good-bye BEIN), I am going to probably go with Hulu as soon as they can get the live to work on Samsung tvs. I already have Hulu commercial free, so signing up with them, I will actually be back to the price I was before the increase ($12 – Hulu, $35 – Vue to $44 – Hulu). Won’t have to power up the PS4 anymore just to watch tv either. Hope it is sooner than later.

  • Pamela Johnson

I’m a savvy granny, and cut the cord last year! Been using Netflix and Hulu and get about 45 stations with my indoor antenna…would love a new setup, as my picture pixilates when it’s windy outside.

  • Doug

Big fan of cord cutter news! Finally have my wife on board and trying to figure out the best setup. A new TCL 55 inch would go a long way!
