In the battle of live TV streaming services on-demand has become an important component.

It started when Hulu launched and included access to its huge library of on-demand content. Sling TV countered by striking a deal to bring hundreds of full length movies for free to Sling TV.

Now AT&T is countering by adding a ton of new content to DIRECTV NOW’s on-demand service. Recently DIRECTV NOW sent a statement to Cord Cutters News to announce that it has added more content for on-demand streaming. With the addition DIRECTV NOW has over 20,000 episodes available to watch when you want.

(Note: We reached out to PlayStation Vue to ask for numbers on its on-demand content. At this time it has not replied to our request for comment.)

It seems that DIRECTV NOW has reached the 20,000 episode goal by slowly adding more shows and networks to its 72-hour rewind service. At launch it was meant to be a big selling point but quickly ran into issues. Now DIRECTV NOW seems to be slowly rolling it back out to more channels.

How will on-demand factor into new subscribers’ selection of a live TV service?
