CBS Plans to Grow Their 24/7 News Network CBSN After Strong Viewer Growth

CBSN-LogoCBSN is a free 24/7 news channel run by CBS News. It launched on November 6, 2014, and has grown steadily ever since. Now it looks as though CBS is planning to invest in their free 24/7 news service.

The talk of new growth for CBSN came after a strong second quarter 2016. During the 2016 Republican Convention CBSN had over 7 million streams in just one week.

CBSN is available online, phones, tablets, Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, and many other platforms, making CBSN one of the most cord cutter friendly news service available.

CBSN has already seen a slow and steady growth in their live coverage of events. It is expected that CBSN will start to hire new anchors to host new shows, helping make CBSN a news service that can stand up to any cable TV news service.

No matter what CBS does with CBSN these strong numbers are something cord cutters can point to as proof of how cord cutting can work for content owners.
