What to Do if You Can’t Get Local Channels with an Antenna

gotham-season-2-FoxSo you want to be a cord cutter but you are struggling to pick up local channels with an antenna? Don’t give up hope! When we first cut the cord, we spent over a year with no over-the-air stations.

Maybe you need a better antenna . . .

The first thing you want to do is check if a roof-mounted antenna will help. Head over to AntennaRecommendations.com and enter your address to see if a better antenna will help.

So you still get nothing? Or maybe just not the over-the-air station you want? There are workarounds, so here are your options to get content that would be aired on your local Fox, CBS, NBC, ABC, etc.

Plan B:

Hulu

If you are willing to wait until the next day Hulu offers a ton of content from Fox, NBC, and ABC. They even have content from networks like FX.

CBS All Access

If you really want CBS content, check out CBS All Access for similar service to Hulu but one that focuses on CBS shows. In some markets they even have a live feed of your local CBS station.

Sling TV & PlayStation Vue TV

If you really want live access to local stations without a contract check out these two options. They also both give you access to WatchESPN for games aired on ABC.

Sling TV

Sling TV just rolled out live ABC streams in select markets. So if ABC is what you want check out Sling TV. You will also get over 20 other channels to help keep you entertained.

PlayStation Vue

PlayStation Vue offers local channels in select markets. You can find out if you live in a market that PlayStation Vue covers here.

Plan C:

If all else fails, you can buy the shows you want on a service like Amazon Video. I often buy just one season of a show here and there because I find it is less expensive than signing up for a streaming service if I just want one show.

So the good news is you have options, but it may not be as easy as just putting up an antenna. Have a suggestion? Post it in the comments.
