What would you do with an extra $30,000 in your life?

Several surveys from /r/CordCutters show many cord cutters save approximately $1,000 a year. I cut the cord when I was 30 years old and have saved about $1,200 every year compared to what I paid before I canceled Direct TV.

If I live to 60 years old, I will have saved about $36,000 by being a cord cutter. With the money I will have saved I plan to take a dream vacation. What would you do with an extra $30,000 in your life?

Canceling cable and being a cord cutter has never been easier. Even most sports fans can now easily cut the cord and still see their favorite games. With new services like HBO Now and Sling TV coming out, you can easily view content that only a year ago would have been impossible to legally watch as a cord cutter.

Why You Should Cancel Cable:

I used to pay over $100 a month just so I could have access to ESPNU. Now, with Sling TV, I have access to ESPNU and all the other ESPN channels for just $25 a month! That alone has saved me hundreds of dollars every year.

Also, Sling TV is available on a month to month subscription basis; no longer do you need to pay a year’s subscription to watch only 6 months of college football. Not a sport fan but just want cheaper access to your favorite shows? Cord cutting is still perfect for you.

One of the most significant reasons I canceled cable was the realization that while I rarely watched live TV, I was still paying $100 every month for the right to get it live. Typically, I watched my shows a day or two after they were aired; when it was more convenient for me. Also, the few shows I did watch live were free over the air on Fox etc.
